Rick Aeschliman

Rick Aeschliman took his first photographs on a road trip to Yosemite when he was nineteen.   Busy with his career in Accounting as well as hobbies in fine art painting and music, it wasn’t until he retired in 2016 that he had the time to pursue photography as a serious art form.

Rick’s particular focus for his photography is the natural landscape and what he describes as “awesome light. “ Since he is an avid high country hiker and experienced fly fisher, he has plenty of scenes to capture because, “trout live in beautiful places.”  He also enjoys shooting the night sky and the Milky Way using low-level LED lighting that provides a subtle, natural illumination to the foregrounds of his nightscapes.

Rick found photography was natural progression from his many years as an award-winning acrylic painter.  He brings a well-trained eye for composition and color rendition.  He plans his trips extensively, using apps to figure out the exact position of the moon and sun to optimize the best time to "show up".  Since he often hikes, he brings only the equipment he’s sure to use, usually his "tried and true" Canon SDLR & Canon 24-105mm "L" lens. Post production using Lightroom and Photoshop are essential to his creative process.
