This image was captured the first week of September. The location is the South Tufa at Mono Lake looking North. We had set up low level LED lighting 200ft from the Tufa’s to shine a soft orange light on the foreground. After a few test shots, I said to my friend, John Sievert, "OMG, John, we have been given a gift.” The orange glow in the background is from the “Boot” forest fire near the town of Walker, CA. We returned the next night and the fire had been “knocked down” and the glow was no longer present. Although we had set up the planned the shot ahead of time, occasionally, we are gifted with a fascinating light. Unfortunately, in this case, the interesting light was caused by the carelessness of man.
